About the Role
Join AECOM’s dynamic Water team as a Principal or Associate Flood Forecasting Modeller and play a senior technical role shaping the future of the Water Industry. You will lead teams delivering real-time flood forecasting projects and help expand services with the Environment Agency and other clients. While your primary focus will be flood forecasting, you will also have opportunities to work on wider hydrology and non-real-time modelling projects.
Your responsibilities will include producing and reviewing Flood Forecasting Inception Stage Reports, assessing model quality and hydrometric data, developing and calibrating flood forecasting models such as PDM and Flood Modeller, and conducting hydrological analysis using tools like Flood Modeller, ICM, HEC-RAS, MIKE 11, and FEH methods. You will produce high-quality technical reports documenting model builds and uncertainties, lead and contribute to tenders, mentor team members, build strong client relationships, and stay current with relevant legislation and guidelines.
Become part of a team of around 700 water experts across the UK and Ireland, collaborating on projects from concept to completion. AECOM offers an inclusive and forward-thinking environment with career development opportunities, technical practice networks, AECOM University, volunteering days, and a flexible hybrid working model to support work-life balance. Part-time and flexible working arrangements are also considered.
