About the Role
Are you ready to join a team of flood risk specialists and shape the future of the Water Industry? We are seeking a Principal or Associate Flood Forecasting Modeller to join our growing Water team at AECOM. In this senior technical role, you will lead teams delivering real-time flood forecasting projects and help expand our services with the Environment Agency and other clients. While your primary focus will be flood forecasting, you will also have opportunities to work on wider hydrology and non-real-time modelling projects.
Your responsibilities will include producing and reviewing Flood Forecasting Inception Stage Reports, assessing the quality of existing models and hydrometric data, developing, calibrating and checking flood forecasting models such as PDM and Flood Modeller, and carrying out non-real-time modelling and hydrological analysis using tools like Flood Modeller, ICM, HEC-RAS, MIKE 11, and FEH hydrological methods. You will produce and review high-quality technical reports documenting model builds and uncertainties, lead and contribute to tenders for key clients, mentor and support team members, build strong client and interdisciplinary relationships, and stay current with relevant legislation and guidelines.
As part of AECOM’s dynamic Water business, which includes around 700 experts across the UK and Ireland, you will collaborate with top-tier engineers and consultants on projects ranging from small initiatives to large-scale ventures, from concept to completion. We offer an inclusive and forward-thinking environment with a flexible hybrid working model, career development opportunities, technical practice networks, volunteering days, and personalised benefits designed to support your future and well-being.
Join us to work on challenging and impactful water projects, contribute to innovative solutions, and be part of a global team dedicated to delivering a better world.
