About the Role
Join AECOM’s dynamic Water team as a Principal or Associate Flood Forecasting Modeller and play a senior technical role leading teams to deliver real-time flood forecasting projects. You will help expand our services with the Environment Agency and other clients, working primarily on flood forecasting but also on wider hydrology and non-real-time modelling projects. Your responsibilities will include producing and reviewing Flood Forecasting Inception Stage Reports, assessing model quality and hydrometric data, developing and calibrating flood forecasting models such as PDM and Flood Modeller, and carrying out hydrological analysis using tools like Flood Modeller, ICM, HEC-RAS, MIKE 11, and FEH methods. You will produce high-quality technical reports, lead tenders, mentor team members, build strong client relationships, and stay current with relevant legislation and guidelines. Working within AECOM’s Water business, you will collaborate with top-tier engineers and consultants on projects ranging from small initiatives to large-scale ventures, from concept to completion. AECOM offers an inclusive and forward-thinking environment with personalised benefits, career development opportunities, technical practice networks, volunteering days, and a flexible hybrid working model to support your work-life balance. We welcome discussions about part-time or flexible working arrangements to suit your needs.

Excellent analytical skills with experience processing and analysing hydrometric data, including gauge rating reviews.
About you
Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a dynamic, deadline-driven team. Strong commitment, willingness to learn, and passion for innovation. Excellent communication and mentoring skills. Ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues across disciplines.
