About the Role
Join AECOM’s dynamic Nature team as a Principal Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) Specialist and help shape the future of environmental consultancy. You will deliver biodiversity net gain assessments for infrastructure and development projects across the UK, working on high-profile schemes including National Grid’s new electrical transmission line, the TransPennine Route Upgrade, hydrogen production facilities, solar farms, water and highways projects. This role offers a supportive environment with internal and external training, mentoring and coaching to help you grow professionally.
Your responsibilities will include producing and technically reviewing biodiversity assessments such as BNG feasibility and design stage reports, leading bids and tenders for ecological and BNG services, supporting client and stakeholder engagement, and contributing to the development of innovative digital biodiversity tools. You will also play a key role in upskilling colleagues and embedding innovation and research within the team.

Experience
Proven experience leading BNG assessments on large-scale infrastructure projects; excellent knowledge of relevant legislation and policy; experience interpreting UKHabs data and Habitat Condition Assessments; experience reviewing technical work, supporting teams, and preparing bids and tenders.

Qualifications
Degree or equivalent qualification in ecology or a related subject; membership of an appropriate professional institution.
