About the Role
Join AECOM’s dynamic Nature team as a Principal Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) Specialist and help shape the future of environmental sustainability. You will deliver biodiversity net gain assessments for infrastructure and development projects across the UK, working on high-profile projects such as National Grid’s new electrical transmission line, the TransPennine Route Upgrade, blue and green hydrogen facilities, solar farms, and various water and highways projects. This role offers a supportive environment with internal and external training, mentoring, and coaching opportunities.
Key responsibilities include producing and technically reviewing biodiversity assessments including BNG feasibility and design stage reports, working closely with the UK&I BNG lead to develop the BNG vision, upskilling ecologists, supporting client and stakeholder consultations, driving technical innovation, collaborating with digital teams on biodiversity tools, leading bids and tenders, and mentoring junior staff and peers.

Experience
Proven experience leading BNG assessments on large-scale infrastructure projects. Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and policy. Experience interpreting UKHabs data and Habitat Condition Assessments. Demonstrated ability to review technical work, support team members, and contribute to bidding and tendering processes.

Qualifications
