About the Role
Join AECOM’s dynamic Nature team as a Principal Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) Specialist and help shape the future of environmental consultancy. You will deliver biodiversity net gain assessments for infrastructure and development projects across the UK, working on high-profile schemes including electrical transmission lines, rail upgrades, hydrogen production facilities, solar farms, water and highways projects. This role offers a supportive environment with internal and external training, mentoring, and coaching to help you grow professionally.
Your responsibilities will include producing and technically reviewing biodiversity assessments such as BNG feasibility and design stage reports, working closely with the UK&I BNG lead to develop the company’s BNG vision, upskilling ecologists, supporting client and stakeholder engagement, and driving innovation through research and digital biodiversity tools. You will also lead bids and tenders for ecological and BNG services and mentor junior staff and peers.

Experience
- Proven experience leading BNG assessments on large-scale infrastructure projects
- Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation and policy
- Experience interpreting UKHabs data and Habitat Condition Assessments
- Experience reviewing technical work, supporting team members, and preparing bids and tenders

Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent in ecology or a related subject
