About the Role
Costain is partnering with United Utilities MSP (UU) on a multi-year framework to manage and execute large-scale on-site asset maintenance activities across the Northwest region. The Project Engineer will lead the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance projects, managing a portfolio of small capital maintenance projects concurrently. This role involves developing strong relationships with UU operational personnel and supply chain partners while fostering a collaborative team environment. Responsibilities include whole life oversight of projects from design through to commissioning and handover, ensuring compliance with framework management plans, driving a safety culture with zero LTI and RIDDOR incidents, maintaining commercial focus, and engaging all stakeholders effectively. The role requires experience in both design and delivery of water projects and offers a dynamic working environment with hybrid flexibility.
Experience
- Proven track record managing multidisciplinary projects including Civils and MEICA, preferably within the water sector
- Successful project delivery experience in dynamic and regulated environments
- Knowledge of construction contract forms and practical application
- Ability to build trusted relationships with clients, supply chain partners, and internal teams
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, document control systems, and Primavera software
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Qualifications
- Degree level/HNC/HND qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent professional experience
- SMSTS qualification or IOSH Managing Safely
- Relevant CSCS card
- Valid driving licence
