About the Role
AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, supporting data centers and all related equipment to ensure continuous cloud service availability. As a Regional Environmental Engineer, you will support site development and environmental compliance in the London region, ensuring regulatory operational compliance and providing environmental guidance to regional operations teams. You will manage environmental performance analysis, reporting, and metrics monitoring, while guiding teams in implementing Amazon environmental procedures. This role involves supporting new site development, including environmental permit preparation, communication with authorities, and operational compliance. You will collaborate with internal and external partners such as government entities, contractors, consultants, design, construction, and operations teams. The role requires strong communication skills, environmental regulatory knowledge, and experience managing complex environmental projects. You will help drive regional environmental programs, foster an environmentally responsible culture, and maintain compliance with local and national regulations and Amazon policies.

Experience
- Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic organization
- Experience in environmental compliance and permitting, waste management, contractual, regulatory, and liability assessments
- Experience with environmental permit evaluations and applications, Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), and water discharge requirements
- Experience in environmental reporting, documentation, investigations, and developing corrective actions
- Experience in a data center or other critical environment, or facilities management
- Experience with environmental auditing and compliance verification

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, chemical or environmental engineering, or related field with 7+ years serving as an environmental technical resource, compliance specialist, or program manager
- Master's degree or equivalent in an environmental field is desirable
- Knowledge of environmental management systems (ISO 14001)
- Knowledge of waste management and circular economy principles
- Understanding of climate change regulations and greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting
