About the Role
The Sustainability Engineering team is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the definition, development, and continuous improvement of electrical infrastructure standards across Amazon facilities in Europe. This role enables the implementation of EV charging infrastructure through electrical design definition and review, develops grid infrastructure standards spanning high-voltage (up to 24 kV) and low-voltage systems, and explores emerging technologies focused on smart grid integration, efficiency, and resilience. You will drive the end-to-end deployment of EV chargers and other sustainability technologies across European sites, define procurement and maintenance processes for electrical and sustainability infrastructure, and own cost budgeting, forecasting, and tracking across sustainability programmes.

Amazon is committed to building a sustainable future under The Climate Pledge, aiming for net-zero carbon across its business by 2040. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact through sustainable energy technologies and scalable infrastructure design.

Key Responsibilities
- Own and develop electrical equipment standards and standard designs for core electrical infrastructure in partnership with manufacturers and internal stakeholders
- Perform design validation and review to ensure compliance with electrical standards during installation and commissioning
- Act as subject matter expert for LV and HV (up to 24 kV) electrical systems
- Align stakeholder expectations and define technical requirements for EV charging network infrastructure and smart grid deployments
- Drive the technology roadmap for electrical infrastructure including EV chargers, substations, energy efficiency solutions, and IoT technologies such as smart meters
- Develop business cases and present recommendations to leadership for programme scoping and investment decisions
- Coordinate with programme managers to ensure quality and standards compliance across large-scale installations
- Drive process improvements across commissioning, audit, value engineering, and cost control activities

A Day in the Life
Your day will involve engagement with all levels of the organisation and multiple stakeholder groups to drive technical decisions with large-scale impact across the Amazon network. You will collaborate with Operations, Reliability & Maintenance, Health and Safety, Global Fleet Product, Finance, Procurement, and external vendors to design and deploy electrical infrastructure across Amazon’s European operational sites.

About the Team
The Sustainability Engineering team leads the execution and deployment of EV charging infrastructure, grid connections, and smart grid solutions across Amazon’s European sites. The team manages supply chain, procurement, and maintenance activities while continuously improving electrical standards and technologies to ensure reliable, compliant, and scalable delivery. We power Amazon’s sustainable growth through operational excellence and continuous innovation.

Requirements

Experience
- Developing or delivering training programs across multiple sites or regions, or experience with technical writing
- Electrical infrastructure design, standards development, or large-scale electrical systems implementation
- Knowledge of HV and/or LV electrical distribution systems (up to 24 kV) and applicable standards
- Technical program and product management or related roles in the industrial EV charging solutions sector
- Working with public grid operators or Distribution System Operators (DSOs)
- Familiarity with national grid codes and DSO requirements in one or more EU/UK markets
- Protection coordination, fault level analysis, or power systems modelling experience

About You
- Proficient in English and one or more European languages
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Passionate about sustainability and innovation in electrical infrastructure
- Ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and geographies

Qualifications
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field
- Chartered Electrical Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional registration preferred
