About the Role
Are you passionate about creating healthier places to live and enabling sustainable transport? AECOM’s Leeds based Streets team is seeking a Senior Engineer (Active and Sustainable Transport) to lead the design and delivery of innovative active travel, public transport, traffic engineering, and urban realm projects across Leeds, West Yorkshire and beyond. This role offers the opportunity to shape safer, greener, and more inclusive transport networks that positively impact communities. You will join a market-leading team working across all project stages from feasibility through to construction, collaborating closely with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Key responsibilities include leading scheme development from concept to detailed design and implementation, managing technical outputs, mentoring junior staff, engaging directly with clients, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality outputs. Projects you may be involved with include Riverside Path (York City Council), Active Travel Routes (Westmorland and Furness / Cumberland Council), Northern Gateway Active Travel and Public Concept Designs, Wakefield Bus and Cycle Priority Corridors, and Normanton Safer Routes to Schools.

You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams within AECOM and external stakeholders, manage project timelines, budgets, and quality standards, and champion Health & Safety best practices including CDM responsibilities. Regular reporting to the Principal Engineer or Project Manager on progress and risks is also expected.

At AECOM, you will benefit from career development opportunities, a flexible hybrid working model to support work-life balance, technical practice networks, AECOM University, and volunteering days. Join us to contribute to projects that create a positive and tangible impact around the world.
