About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Electrical Designer to perform or support the Lead Designer role on one or more projects across diverse industries including Water, Transport, Energy, Green Energy, Nuclear, and Oil and Gas. You will be responsible for preparing specific design documentation for individual projects or proposals, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with project requirements.
The role is part of the Engineering Services Team, which delivers engineering support through hubs in Manchester, London, and Aberdeen for sectors such as Water, Energy, Integrated Transport, Rail, Highways, Nuclear, and Defence. The team supports customers through Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and Front End Engineering Design (FEED) phases, progressing projects through detailed design and construction.
Key responsibilities include producing design deliverables like single line diagrams, block cable diagrams, cable routing diagrams, schematics, equipment layouts, and 3D models, as well as related documentation such as bills of materials, cable schedules, design packs, and material requisitions. You will act as Senior Designer on proposals, mentor less experienced designers, check drawings in line with company procedures, liaise with other disciplines, and ensure all work is carried out safely and to a high professional standard.
Experience
- Proven track record as an Electrical Designer on multiple projects in similar environments.
- Good knowledge of design working practices and installation requirements across a range of industries.
- Proficient in CAD and experienced in 3D modelling, ideally with AVEVA PDMS – E3D.
- Experience with Relux or similar software.
- Knowledge of UK legislation and standards.
- Excellent communication and time-management skills.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven industry experience across all stages of the project lifecycle.
- Strong focus on safety and risk management.

Qualifications
Essential:
- Qualified to City & Guilds or HNC/HND/OND/ONC or equivalent.

- Experience across multiple industry sectors including Water, Nuclear, Pipelines, Highways, Rail, Energy, and Green Energy.
