About the Role
Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in every person or project and redefine the boundaries of ambition. Join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the UK’s largest and most exciting megaprojects, at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years.

In this role, you will undertake site inspections of contractors’ work areas, relaying observations and reporting environmental issues where necessary. You will provide written and verbal advice on environmental legislation, permits, and planning constraints for all site activities. Reviewing contractors’ environmental management plans and risk assessments to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and SZC standards will be a key responsibility.

You will support self-assessment and internal audits of site activities to ensure compliance with legislation, SZC processes, and environmental best practice. Leading investigations into environmental incidents, producing reports, and recommending actions to prevent recurrence will also be part of your role. Additionally, you will recognise contractual issues and escalate them appropriately to the Environmental and Sustainability Manager in a risk-proportional manner.

Experience
- Proven experience in an Environmental Management role on dynamic construction or industrial projects (site based).
- Detailed knowledge of UK environmental legislation relevant to construction or industrial installations, including supporting guidance, reference notes, and industry best practice.
- Awareness of client/contractor relationships and legal responsibilities under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
- Experience operating within an environmental management system (EMS) conforming to recognised standards such as BS EN ISO14001:2004.

Qualifications
