About the Role
Protect lives and landscapes with AECOM by delivering expert flood risk solutions that safeguard communities and infrastructure. Join our dynamic and rapidly growing Water Business Line as a Senior Flood Modeller and help deliver high-profile, influential projects across the UK and beyond. Based in one of the UK’s most ambitious northern engineering hubs, you will be a senior technical resource guiding junior staff and developing our flood risk modelling offerings for local authorities, water companies, and public and private sector clients.
In this role, you will develop and check hydraulic models using software such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, Mike 11, Mike 21, HEC-RAS, and ICM to support Flood Alleviation Schemes, Flood Risk Assessments, and reservoir flood studies. You will also develop water quality models (physico-chemical, biological, bacterial, or chemical) using industry-standard software like MIKE, Delft3D, SIMCAT, and ICM. You will conceptualise and scope modelling approaches, undertake hydrological assessments using Flood Estimation Handbook, ReFH2, and WINFAP, and lead tenders ranging from innovative projects to multimillion-pound framework contracts.
You will mentor team members, build client relationships, stay updated with legislation and guidelines, and use AECOM’s project management systems to deliver high-quality outputs on time and within budget. Collaborating closely with engineers and technical specialists, you will contribute to a wide range of fluvial, coastal, surface water, and drainage flood risk management projects.
At AECOM, you will thrive in an inclusive, forward-thinking environment with access to career development, technical networks, AECOM University, volunteering days, and a flexible hybrid working model to support your work-life balance. We welcome flexible and part-time working arrangements to suit your lifestyle.
