About the Role
Protect lives and landscapes with AECOM by delivering expert flood risk solutions that safeguard communities and infrastructure. Join our dynamic and rapidly growing Water Business Line as a Senior Flood Modeller, working on high-profile and influential projects across the UK and beyond. You will be a senior technical resource, guiding junior staff and developing our flood risk modelling services for local authorities, water companies, and public and private sector clients.
In this role, you will develop and check hydraulic models using software such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, Mike 11, Mike 21, HEC-RAS, and ICM to support Flood Alleviation Schemes, Flood Risk Assessments, and reservoir flood studies. You will also develop water quality models using industry-standard tools like MIKE, Delft3D, SIMCAT, and ICM. Your responsibilities include conceptualising and scoping modelling approaches, undertaking hydrological assessments using Flood Estimation Handbook, ReFH2, and WINFAP, leading tenders, mentoring team members, and building strong client relationships.
You will work closely with engineers and technical specialists to deliver a wide range of fluvial, coastal, surface water, and drainage flood risk management projects. Stay up-to-date with legislation and guidelines affecting flood risk services and use AECOM’s project management systems to deliver high-quality outputs on time and within budget.
Join a team of around 700 water experts across the UK and Ireland, collaborating on projects from concept to completion in an inclusive and forward-thinking environment. Enjoy career development opportunities, technical networks, AECOM University, volunteering days, and a flexible hybrid working model to support your work-life balance. We welcome discussions about part-time or flexible working arrangements to suit your lifestyle.
