About the Role
Costain has secured extensive work across the water sector to support the AMP 8 investment cycle. Anglian Water is committed to delivering safe, clean drinking water throughout the Anglian region. To maintain and improve its water storage assets, there is an ongoing capital investment programme involving draining, inspecting, and repairing these assets before bringing them back online. This large-scale programme covers multiple locations across the Anglian Water region.
As a key partner, we are seeking an experienced Senior General Foreperson to join the Project Delivery team. You will drive delivery through both pre-construction and on-site phases of the project. This senior role requires strong strategic thinking and the ability to engage and communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders including client teams, designers, and direct reports to ensure safety and quality at all stages.
Your responsibilities will include coordinating a section of works, facilitating communication between suppliers, subcontractors, engineering, safety, environmental, and client teams, and building and developing the project team. You will identify training needs, review workforce performance, and ensure delivery of briefings. Maintaining a high standard of quality to meet specifications first time and minimizing rework is essential.
You will also ensure accurate and up-to-date allocation sheets, delivery tickets, and plant returns are provided at shift close to engineering and commercial teams. Keeping all records such as inspections, permits, and briefings current is required. Regular safety and environmental inspections must be carried out with recommended actions implemented. Additionally, you will maintain a detailed daily site diary including changes, variations, subcontractor attendance, and records of work-related discussions with clients, designers, and project teams.
Experience
- Proven experience managing multidisciplinary projects including Civils and MEICA, preferably within the water sector
- Skilled collaborative manager experienced in leading and delivering water infrastructure or large-scale linear projects
- Experience leading multi-contractor and multi-disciplined teams
- Ability to review information, consult relevant stakeholders, and make agile decisions
- Demonstrated ability to outperform tight budgets through effective programme development, risk and opportunity management, and innovation
- Experience in stakeholder management including customers, clients, site operators, landowners, and utility companies
- Full UK driving licence
