About the Role
AtkinsRéalis is one of the largest engineering and design consultancies in the UK, delivering multidisciplinary projects to a wide range of clients. Our Networks & Drainage Solutions team includes the largest Urban Catchment Modelling teams in the UK, working with major Water Companies, the Environment Agency, Lead Local Flood Authorities, and international clients. Due to significant growth, we are seeking an ambitious Senior or Principal Wastewater Hydraulic Modeller to lead and develop a hydraulic modelling team based in Sheffield.
In this role, you will work alongside engineers to deliver projects for Water Companies, Local Authorities, and Developers. You will be responsible for leading project teams, resource planning, and project management including hydraulic model build and verification, storm water management, SuDS, drainage option development, and regulatory delivery such as SOAF and WFD.
You will also support client relationship development, bid preparation, and promote staff development through training and mentoring. Contributing to technical innovation and continuous improvement will be a key part of your role.
Experience
Degree qualified with broad experience in:
- Model Build and Verification: creating robust sewer network models suitable for analysis and solution development.
- Hydraulic and Water Quality Analysis: assessing catchment hydraulics and pollutant sources.
- Solution Development: outline design and detailed design support.
- Integrated Catchment Modelling: assessing interactions between sewers, watercourses, and overland flows.
- Catchment Planning: developing hydraulic, environmental, and operational strategies.
- Blue Green Infrastructure.
Proven track record in business development, client management, project management, and line management.
Essential skills include hydraulic modelling software proficiency, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a strong understanding of the UK Water Industry and regulatory environment.

Qualifications
Attained or working towards chartered status (ICE or CIWEM). Coaching and people management skills are essential.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience with Storm Water Management and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS).
- Familiarity with software such as FME, Power BI, and programming languages like Ruby, Python, or Visual Basic.
- Experience working on multi-disciplinary projects.
- Commercial awareness and project management skills.
- Ability to develop and motivate junior team members.
