About the Role
The Group Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) Department ensures that Costain operates in a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible manner through the implementation of the Group SHE Management System and Group SHE Plan. This system provides a framework and standards for managing safety, health, and environmental risks and opportunities, aiming to prevent injury and ill health, provide a safe working environment, and protect and enhance the natural environment while balancing socio-economic requirements across all activities and operations.

The department’s purpose is to protect employees, the community, and the environment while ensuring Costain operates sustainably and complies with relevant legislation and regulations. As Senior SHE Advisor, you will support Contract SHE functions by providing and enabling SHE solutions to assist Contract and Operational Teams in implementing the Group SHE Management System. You will build and maintain relationships with all stakeholders, providing an independent and objective view of SHE performance on the contract.

Key responsibilities include supporting and influencing Contract Leadership Teams, clients, and other stakeholders to comply with the Group SHE Management System and contract SHE performance, delivering training where required, coaching and supporting operational and supply chain contractors, and actively engaging in contract SHE assurance and investigations. You will also support timely reporting, analysis, and use of SHE data to influence leadership and support data-driven improvement plans.

Experience
Essential: SHE related experience.
Desirable: Significant relevant SHE experience in the industry.

About you
Proactive and confident in supporting and influencing leadership and operational teams. Able to build strong stakeholder relationships and provide objective SHE performance insights. Skilled in coaching, training delivery, and supporting SHE assurance and investigations.

Qualifications
Essential:
- Tech. IOSH or AIEMA or equivalent
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate or NEBOSH Oil and Gas or IEMA Associate Qualification (Course) or equivalent

Desirable:
- Cert IOSH or AIEMA or equivalent
- NEBOSH Occupational Safety Diploma or Environmental Diploma or equivalent
