About the Role
Join AECOM's established Sustainability & Decarbonisation Advisory team within the Building Engineering Business Line, recognised as a leader in sustainable development. As a Senior Sustainability Consultant, you will play a key role in delivering sustainability and carbon services for major public and private sector clients, helping them design and deliver low-carbon, resilient, and sustainable estates. Your work will span multiple sectors including healthcare, education, commercial, and specifically UK Defence & National Security.

You will support clients in developing and understanding their sustainability and decarbonisation requirements, develop and deliver whole life carbon reduction strategies aligned with frameworks such as Greater London Authority, LETI & RIBA, RICS, and BREEAM. You will liaise directly with clients and designers to implement sustainability strategies from early design through construction phases.

Additional responsibilities include delivering assessment certification schemes such as BREEAM and DREAM, with LEED and WELL experience considered advantageous. You will also deliver sustainability appraisals like SAW and SEEAM, support project management and programming, contribute to work winning through tender responses, and mentor junior staff to support their development.

Requirements

Experience
Proven experience in building design and construction processes.
Experience undertaking Whole Life Carbon Assessments (WLCAs) using OneClick LCA.
Experience with assessment certification schemes, especially BREEAM and DREAM.
Experience delivering sustainability appraisals.
Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and apply practical sustainability solutions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly present technical information.
Demonstrated experience in sustainable buildings, low-carbon design, and environmental performance.
Understanding of broader sustainability issues and mitigation strategies.
Knowledge of current and future policies and best practice guidance on sustainability and decarbonisation.
Willingness to work on Defence and National Security projects.
Ability to manage a varied workload across multiple projects.

Qualifications
Relevant qualifications in sustainability, environmental science, engineering, or related disciplines are expected.
Professional accreditation or membership in relevant sustainability or environmental bodies is advantageous.
Continuous professional development in sustainability and decarbonisation best practices.
