About the Role
Join AECOM’s established Sustainability & Decarbonisation Advisory team within the Building Engineering Business Line, a recognised leader in sustainable development. As a Senior Sustainability Consultant, you will play a key role in delivering sustainability and carbon services for major public and private sector clients, supporting the design and delivery of low-carbon, resilient, and sustainable estates. Your work will span diverse sectors including healthcare, education, commercial, and specifically UK Defence & National Security.
You will support clients in developing and understanding their sustainability and decarbonisation requirements, develop and deliver whole life carbon reduction strategies aligned with frameworks such as Greater London Authority, LETI & RIBA, RICS, and BREEAM, and liaise directly with clients and designers to implement sustainability strategies from early design through construction. You will also deliver assessment certification schemes including BREEAM and DREAM, with LEED and WELL experience considered advantageous, and conduct sustainability appraisals such as SAW and SEEAM.
Additional responsibilities include supporting project management and programming, contributing to business development through tender responses, and mentoring junior staff to enhance team capabilities. Experience
- Strong knowledge of the building design and construction process.
- Proven experience undertaking Whole Life Carbon Assessments (WLCAs) using OneClick LCA.
- Experience with assessment certification schemes, particularly BREEAM and DREAM.
- Experience delivering sustainability appraisals.
- Demonstrated expertise in sustainable buildings, low-carbon design, and environmental performance.
- Familiarity with current and emerging sustainability and decarbonisation policies and best practice guidance.
- Willingness to work on Defence and National Security projects.

Qualifications
- Active UK Security Clearance (SC) or the ability to obtain UK SC Clearance is essential.
