
Location
Hybrid role based at Coppermills, Walthamstow, London with travel to project sites as required. Typically 2 to 3 days per week on site to support design reviews, assurance activities, and project delivery.
Hours
36 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Salary
£55,000 to £65,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
About the Role
Join Thames Water’s Major Projects Team and play a central role in delivering some of the UK’s most technically complex and high-profile water and wastewater infrastructure schemes. You will lead Instrumentation, Control and Automation (ICA) technical assurance activities across major capital projects valued between £30 million and over £120 million, spanning the full project lifecycle from feasibility through commissioning and handover. Your work will ensure delivery is safe, efficient, and aligned with time, cost, and quality expectations.

- Collaborate closely with contractors, consultants, and multi-disciplinary teams to ensure designs meet technical, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Ensure solutions fully meet the Project Brief, respond to stakeholder needs, and deliver the best Whole Life Cost and operational value.

Experience
- Degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation engineering or equivalent experience in a relevant engineering role within the water or wastewater sector.
- Proven leadership in fostering a positive Health, Safety and Wellbeing culture.
- Significant experience in a design or design-related engineering role.
- Strong technical knowledge of asset standards and deep expertise within ICA discipline.
- Experience collaborating across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Experience contributing to Stage Gate processes and ensuring robust technical governance.
- Strong commercial awareness and practical understanding of engineering contracts.
