About the Role
Create places and spaces that matter by influencing environmental outcomes for freshwater systems at project level and beyond. Join AtkinsRéalis’ Water Management Consultancy as a Senior/Principal Hydroecologist to deliver river and wetland hydro ecological investigations and support restoration and enhancement of aquatic systems across the UK and internationally. Work within a dynamic aquatic ecology team alongside water resource specialists, engineers, and planners to develop and apply habitat and biological response models for key water company and regulatory clients. Lead technical reporting, consultations, and environmental assessments including ecological appraisals, impact assessments, Water Framework Directive compliance, and Biodiversity Net Gain on nationally important infrastructure projects. Support the growth of hydro ecological assessment capabilities and contribute to winning new work. Experience
Proven experience delivering hydro ecological and environmental assessments focused on freshwater aquatic habitats and species. Experience in programme, resource, and financial management. Consultancy experience preferred, with a strong technical portfolio including statistical modelling and analysis of ecological monitoring and river flow data. Experience working on large infrastructure projects within multidisciplinary teams. Experience specifying, undertaking, and managing river and wetland habitat and aquatic ecological surveys. MoRPh survey accreditation is desirable.

Qualifications

Chartered status with a relevant professional body is typically required; candidates not yet chartered should be willing to work towards chartership with support and mentorship from AtkinsRéalis colleagues.
