38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 6:30 am – 3:45 pm; one week out of five on night shift from 9:00 pm – 5:30 am. Opportunity to join the standby rota with additional payment.
Salary
From £29,349 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
About the Role
As a Trunk Sewer Technician within the Strategic Pumping & Trunks Operations Team, you will maintain and operate the sewer network and its associated assets across South London. Your duties include completing planned, emergency, and defect maintenance of the trunk sewer network, performing physical maintenance of sewer assets such as penstock gates, operating plant and equipment, and carrying out cleaning, basic maintenance, and fault-finding tasks. The role requires working in confined spaces, at heights, and lifting heavy loads, with full training provided. You will work in some of London’s most challenging subterranean environments, ensuring the sewer network operates safely and efficiently.

Experience
Previous maintenance experience or similar roles is advantageous but not essential. HGV training can be provided.
About you
You must be physically fit and prepared to work in a challenging environment daily, including manual handling of large mechanical assets and grounds maintenance. A proactive, motivated team player with the ability to demonstrate initiative and flexibility is essential. You must be clean-shaven to wear respiratory protective equipment (RPE) correctly. A full UK driving licence is required.
Qualifications
No specific qualifications are required; however, relevant experience and a willingness to learn and develop are important.
