About the Role
United Utilities (UU) is committed to delivering great water for a stronger, greener, and healthier North West of England. As a Wastewater Framework Contracts Manager, you will be the key interface between UU Wastewater operations and the primary contract Partners working on our network. You will manage core Wastewater Partners on the Network Maintenance Service (NMS) framework to ensure operational needs are met, contracts KPIs and SLAs are delivered, and value for money service is provided to customers. Your role will involve leading, managing, and intervening on behalf of contract Partners to support operational delivery, providing subject matter expertise on contractual KPIs and SLAs, and assuring internal UU processes and expectations are met. You will monitor commercial cost and revenue dynamics with commercial colleagues to ensure financial incentives operate as intended and contribute directly to operational performance.
You will lead the strategic direction of contracts by identifying service improvement opportunities, designing lean processes, and embedding a company-wide Core Wastewater vision and strategy aligned with regulatory goals. You will ensure clear accountabilities for Partner-facing processes by collaborating with leadership to define roles and responsibilities, foster teamwork, and drive understanding of team contributions. Key responsibilities include managing job promotion, work scheduling, work bank and fluidity management, cost models, and operational success criteria.
As a senior relationship manager, you will handle escalations, incidents, performance assurance, Partner resourcing, and medium-term programme management. You will curate and track key performance metrics related to health and safety, streetworks, workbank, completion, dwell, and cycle time dynamics to manage competing demands, drive contractual compliance, and improve commercial performance. You will identify commercial and operational efficiency opportunities to reduce costs, eliminate duplication, and ensure cost-effective operations. Customer contact management will focus on meeting SLAs and regulatory requirements, minimizing service failures, and driving continuous improvement through root cause analysis and best practices. You will ensure compliance with Health and Safety frameworks, review and improve systems to meet internal KPIs, and promote knowledge sharing to embed best practices and thought leadership across internal and external networks.
