About the Role
Are you ready to join a team of wastewater modellers and shape the future of the Water Industry? Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary Water Team as a Wastewater Modeller in our rapidly growing Scotland region. At AECOM, we’re at the forefront of innovation, delivering an exceptional portfolio of water programmes and projects through long-term partnerships with key clients, including contractors, charities and water companies. In this role, you will support the delivery of high-quality wastewater modelling projects while developing your technical and professional skills within an experienced team. AECOM has recently been named preferred bidder for one of two Primary Designers for Scottish Water’s SR27 Enterprise, a transformational multi-billion-pound programme reshaping Scotland’s water and wastewater infrastructure from 2027 to 2033 (with potential extension). You will contribute to impactful projects and collaborate with a talented, multidisciplinary team, gaining valuable experience across a wide range of modelling and engineering activities. Your responsibilities will include supporting wastewater modelling projects under senior engineer supervision, assisting with model build, calibration and verification using industry-standard software, contributing to data analysis, reporting and technical documentation, assisting in optioneering and design solution assessments, collaborating with internal teams, supporting Health & Safety processes including risk assessments, participating in project meetings and progress reporting, and developing technical skills through on-the-job learning and training. At AECOM, you will thrive in an inclusive and forward-thinking environment where your contributions are valued. Enjoy career development opportunities, technical practice networks, AECOM University, volunteering days and a flexible hybrid working model to support a healthy work-life balance. We welcome flexible working arrangements to suit your lifestyle.
Experience
Some experience or academic exposure to wastewater modelling tools such as InfoWorks ICM or similar (training will be provided). Understanding of basic engineering principles related to water/wastewater systems. Ability to analyse data and present findings clearly. Strong organisational skills and ability to manage your own workload with guidance. Good communication and teamwork skills.
About you
Passionate about innovation and turning bold ideas into reality. Willingness to learn and develop technical expertise. Enthusiastic about working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team. Interest in developing a career in wastewater modelling.
Qualifications
Degree or Master’s in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or related discipline) preferred. Basic familiarity with data analysis tools or coding (e.g. Python) is beneficial but not essential. Working towards or interested in working towards professional accreditation (e.g. ICE or CIWEM).
