£40,000-£50,000 plus £6,000 car allowance, annual bonus and benefits
About the Role

We are looking for a driven, creative communications professional passionate about the environment to join our ECO team as the Area Education, Communication and Outreach Manager. This role offers the opportunity to work on recycling projects and engage with communities to inspire positive change.
Based across South London, you will manage and develop communication and service development projects for waste and recycling management contracts. Reporting to the Senior Communications Manager and part of the regional senior leadership team, you will lead strategic annual communication plans that are measurable, financially viable and aligned with client objectives.
You will be responsible for managing Veolia and client reputation through proactive and reactive media and social media engagement, supporting and coaching contract officers to deliver impactful, cost-effective projects, mentoring Communications and Education Officers and managers, and embedding company culture and values within your team and wider contract teams. Compliance with all Health and Safety policies and procedures is essential.

Experience
- Significant corporate media experience handling press enquiries
- Proven track record of achieving coverage in local and regional publications
- Experience translating content and key messages across multiple channels
- Understanding of social media, social advertising and digital communications
- Effective communication skills with experience in delivering behaviour change
- Experience in community engagement techniques and analysing results
- Strong stakeholder relationship building and customer management experience
- Project development and management experience
- Ability to contribute to and execute strategies supporting company objectives
- People and relationship management skills
- Performance management and effective delegation abilities
About you
You are a creatively driven manager passionate about communications and the environment, with strong leadership and project management skills. You are able to mentor and coach teams, embed company culture, and maintain compliance with Health and Safety policies.
Qualifications
Desirable qualifications and skills include:
- Industry knowledge of recycling and waste management operations and practices
- Understanding of working with local authorities
- Experience in visual and textual content production across multiple formats
- Advanced understanding of data management and analysis
- Full clean UK driving licence (beneficial due to travel requirements)
