About the Role
Murphy is recruiting an Environmental Advisor to join our growing Infrastructure team, delivering a major water infrastructure project in partnership with United Utilities as part of the AMP8 programme. Murphy is a long-standing delivery partner to leading water clients across the UK and Ireland, operating over 25 facilities under full DBOM contracts.

As an Environmental Advisor, you will work closely with regulators to ensure all necessary permits and licences are in place before works commence. You will support the day-to-day environmental management of construction activities, liaise with site teams, clients, stakeholders, and the wider environmental team, and conduct environmental inspections and audits.

Your responsibilities will include interpreting data and writing detailed reports, staying current with changes in environmental law, creating waste management datasets, ensuring biodiversity recommendations are met, and protected species remain undisturbed. You will review relevant documents such as risk assessments, management plans, and method statements, conduct environmental briefings or tool-box talks for site personnel and subcontractors, and liaise with stakeholders and local authorities as required.

You will ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements as well as Company and Joint Venture policies and processes.

Competence in leading investigations into environmental incidents. Experience in training others on environment management systems and processes such as EMS and TBTs. Some experience in waste management and KPI reporting. Mathematical knowledge and the ability to think analytically and critically.

About you
Detail-oriented and proactive with strong communication skills. Able to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders including regulators, site teams, and clients. Committed to maintaining high environmental standards and compliance. Enthusiastic about continuous professional development and staying up to date with environmental legislation.
