About the Role
Murphy is recruiting an Environmental Manager to join the Energy Team working on the SSE ASTI Framework. Our business is renowned for extensive in-house expertise, experience, and a continuous drive to innovate within the industry to create added value for all our customers. We support groundbreaking transmission and distribution projects across four countries, ensuring energy security for decades to come. Our services include design, construction, and commissioning, delivering Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) projects for both regulated and private customers, alongside technical and engineering solutions within conventional power and energy transition markets.

As an Environmental Manager at Murphy, you will establish and provide leadership in best practices for environmental and sustainability matters in conjunction with the SHESQ function. You will ensure management controls are in place so all personnel understand their statutory duties and responsibilities, providing advice as required. You will take a lead role with site management teams to ensure compliance with environmental and sustainability plans.

Your responsibilities will include leading and overseeing accident and incident investigations according to company procedures, analysing data and making recommendations to prevent reoccurrences. You will collate and review environmental and sustainability statistics to identify trends and areas for improvement, and develop and implement campaigns and improvement plans in agreement with the Operations Director and SHES Director.

You will manage the preparation and review of environmental and sustainability documents, including those from third parties, produce plans, procedures, and associated documentation, and check compliance. Identifying significant environmental and sustainability issues, you will help set up contracts and yards with appropriate controls. You will also manage and identify any required environmental consents, permits, or exemptions and ensure they are obtained.

Additionally, you will provide reports, presentations, and information as directed by the Business and SHESQ function, and contribute to pre-qualification, tender, and environmental and sustainability award submissions.

Murphy is formally recognised as a sector-leading employer, Platinum Investors In People accredited, with a reported operating profit increase of 57% on the prior year.
