As an Environmental and Sustainability Consultant, you will work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team alongside engineers, town planners, and environmental and social specialists. You will lead and coordinate projects from early-stage feasibility and environmental appraisal to full Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) as part of planning applications across various regimes.
You will support project teams by undertaking scoping, preparation, and delivery of environmental appraisals and assessments, programming EIA processes, managing environmental risks, and coordinating environmental, social, and sustainability specialists. You will prepare and lead the production of environmental and sustainability deliverables, navigating the requirements of clients, stakeholders, regulators, and government agencies.
This role offers the opportunity to assist decision-making processes and integrate sustainability into design, focusing on place-based solutions to help clients achieve net zero carbon commitments, deliver nature-based solutions, and enhance climate resilience. You will engage with a diverse range of public and private sector clients and stakeholders through public consultation events, workshops, inquiries, and industry events.

Experience
- Relevant academic or professional qualifications
- Working towards chartership through a relevant organisation
- Demonstrable knowledge of EIA and relevant UK legislation
- Experience working on Development Consent Order (DCO) schemes is beneficial
- Proven track record in project and construction environmental management, collaborating with design teams on large infrastructure projects
- Flexibility to spend time away from your home base as required
- Ability to manage your own workload while being an integral team member
