About the Role
Mott MacDonald is a global engineering, management, and development consultancy with over 20,000 employees across more than 50 countries and 140+ offices. We deliver impactful work across diverse industries, empowering our people to grow, collaborate, and excel. As an employee-owned business, we foster an inclusive culture where everyone feels valued and empowered.
The Water Consultancy Division is our centre of excellence for water and wastewater challenges, offering diverse and technically challenging projects that ensure safe water supplies and environmental protection. Our multidisciplinary teams provide services throughout the full project lifecycle, from advisory and feasibility studies to detailed design, construction support, and site supervision.
As a Senior Flood Risk Modeller, you will join a team with a strong track record in flood risk management, including award-winning schemes like the Leeds Flood Alleviation Scheme. You will develop hydraulic models using software such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, and ICM to support flood alleviation schemes, flood risk assessments, and reservoir flood studies. Your role will include conceptualising modelling approaches, analysing data with tools like ArcGIS, QGIS, Python, and Excel, and producing high-quality client reports.
You will mentor and train junior staff, guiding them through the modelling process and helping identify opportunities and risks. Alongside your technical responsibilities, you will have opportunities to develop project management and business development skills through client engagement. You will be part of a wider Water Resources and Flooding team, working alongside experts in hydrology, hydrogeology, water quality, climate resilience, and related disciplines.
Mott MacDonald supports your career progression with mentoring, training, and opportunities to take on new challenges and responsibilities in technical, management, or commercial directions.
