About the Role
RSK Group, through its Biocensus division, is seeking experienced Environmental Managers and Environmental Clerks of Works (EnvCoW) on a fixed-term basis (1 year, extendable) to support ongoing projects across the UK. As an Environmental Manager, you will lead the environmental and sustainability aspects of projects, providing leadership, advice, and ensuring compliance with legislative, corporate, and additional requirements. You will develop, implement, and maintain Environmental Management Systems, ensuring all personnel understand their responsibilities.

Key responsibilities include supporting site management teams to ensure compliance with environmental and sustainability plans, developing campaigns, collating and reviewing statistics to identify improvement areas, producing plans and procedures, and driving sustainability initiatives such as waste reduction, biodiversity enhancement, energy efficiency, and carbon footprint reduction. You will liaise with regulators, stakeholders, consultants, and contractors to ensure compliance and progress. You will also contribute to pre-qualification, tender, and environmental award submissions.

As an Environmental Clerk of Works, you will support the Environmental Manager by focusing on specific projects or clients, conducting site assessments, providing guidance and recommendations, contributing to meetings and KPIs, reviewing environmental impacts, and reporting compliance. This role is largely site based with reporting responsibilities.

Requirements

Experience
- Environmental Manager: Ideally 10 years' experience in environmental management within construction or related sectors; strong candidates with less experience will be considered.
- Environmental Clerk of Works: Ideally 5 years' experience in environmental auditing and practical risk mitigation on construction projects; strong candidates with less experience will be considered.
- Experience in environmental risk mitigation including waste and water management, pollution prevention, ecological and biodiversity mitigation.
- Desirable experience includes Development Consent Order, Biodiversity Net Gain, power and renewables projects, Environmental Incident Management and Investigation, and Net Zero principles.

About you
- Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and management systems (ISO 14001 Lead Auditor desirable).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills.
- Analytical mindset with problem-solving and project management abilities.
- Collaborative, able to work effectively with site teams (especially for EnvCoW role).
- Passionate about sustainability and driving continuous improvement.
- Ability to work largely on site (EnvCoW role).

Qualifications
- Degree(s) in a relevant Environmental discipline.
- Professional environmental accreditation desirable (Chartered Environmentalist preferred for Manager role).
- Appropriate CSCS card (e.g. Professionally Qualified Person).
- Experience in environmental auditing (EnvCoW role).
