About the Role
RSK Group, through its Biocensus division, is seeking experienced Environmental Managers and Environmental Clerks of Works (EnvCoW) for fixed-term contracts of 1 year (extendable) to support ongoing projects across the UK. As an Environmental Manager, you will lead and manage the environmental and sustainability aspects of projects, providing leadership, advice, and support to ensure compliance with legislative, corporate, and additional requirements. You will develop, implement, and maintain Environmental Management Systems, ensuring all personnel understand their responsibilities. Key responsibilities include supporting site management teams, developing sustainability campaigns, collating and reviewing environmental data, producing plans and reports, driving sustainability initiatives such as waste reduction and carbon footprint minimisation, and liaising with regulators, stakeholders, consultants, and contractors. You will also contribute to pre-qualification, tender, and award submissions related to environmental and sustainability matters. The role is primarily office-based with site visits as required.

Requirements

Experience
- Ideally 10 years' experience in environmental management within construction or related sectors (strong candidates with less experience will be considered)
- Proven experience in practical environmental risk mitigation including waste and water management, pollution prevention, ecological and biodiversity mitigation
- Experience with Development Consent Orders and Biodiversity Net Gain is desirable
- Experience in power and renewables projects is advantageous
- Knowledge of Net Zero principles and Environmental Incident Management and Investigation is welcomed

About You
- Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and management systems (ISO 14001 Lead Auditor desirable)
- Excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills at all levels
- Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving and project management capabilities
- Motivational leader passionate about sustainability and continuous improvement

Qualifications
- Degree(s) in a relevant Environmental discipline preferred
- Professional environmental accreditation desirable (e.g., Chartered Environmentalist)
- Appropriate CSCS card (e.g., Professionally Qualified Person)

Environmental Clerk of Works (EnvCoW) Specific Requirements
- Ideally 5 years' experience in environmental auditing and practical risk mitigation on construction projects
- Degree(s) in relevant Environmental discipline preferred
- Professional accreditation desirable
- Appropriate CSCS card
- Ability to work largely on site and collaborate effectively with site teams
- Strong reporting skills and ability to advise on compliance and continuous improvement measures
- Passionate about sustainability and driving continuous improvement
