About the Role
Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB) is a fully integrated design and build business combining the design expertise of Mott MacDonald with the contracting experience of JN Bentley to deliver award-winning projects. Working for MMB, you will be involved in major water and wastewater schemes throughout all project phases from feasibility through to construction. With an annual turnover surpassing £500 million, MMB is a leader within the industry, providing an ideal environment for career growth.
Primarily operating in the UK water market, MMB delivers feasibility, design, construction, and commissioning services to ensure efficient water supply and wastewater treatment. Projects range from restoring and upgrading reservoirs to installing advanced technology for clean drinking water and sewerage treatment, protecting rivers and communities.
As an Environmental Specialist, you will be part of a UK-wide environment team supporting regional design and operations staff to deliver environmental improvements at local and regional levels. Your responsibilities will include identifying environmental risks throughout the project lifecycle, supporting project teams with risk mitigation considering cost, time, compliance, safety, and social impacts, and coordinating specialist environmental inputs such as heritage, archaeology, ecology, and geomorphology.
You will produce environmental deliverables at key project milestones, including EIA screening assessments and environmental management plans, lead liaison with environmental regulators, and effectively communicate with team members and stakeholders. Building positive client relationships regarding environmental and consenting matters will be essential.
This role requires a broad understanding of environmental disciplines and project risks, including ecology, archaeology, drainage, geotechnics, contaminated land, landscape, and noise, with deeper expertise in at least one area being advantageous. You will coordinate environmental aspects through strong planning, organisation, and communication to ensure successful project outcomes, solve problems methodically, and deliver results within tight timeframes while managing priorities efficiently.
MMB is committed to supporting flexible working arrangements and fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive. This role is employed by Mott MacDonald but involves working across the joint venture business with both Mott MacDonald and JN Bentley colleagues.
