The Energy unit provides integrated engineering and project management services globally across sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation, and transmission & distribution networks. We support the energy transition by delivering projects from concept through to decommissioning or repowering.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our expanding Power Transmission and Distribution team. You will work on diverse, industry-leading projects developing innovative solutions for power transmission grid systems and client transmission and distribution installations. Your role will ensure security of electricity supply, integrate renewable energy sources, and bring large power infrastructure projects from concept to delivery.

You will collaborate with major utilities and global clients in a rapidly evolving energy sector. Reporting to the Power team Principal Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Primary plant layout for HV substations
- Equipment specifications for HV plant and ancillary equipment
- Engineering design input through all project lifecycle stages from feasibility to detailed design, construction monitoring, and commissioning
- Coordination with client project teams and internal disciplines including civil, structural, environmental, survey/geotechnical, transport, protection and control, and CAD/BIM teams
- Delivering projects involving new technologies such as energy storage, HVDC systems, smart grid solutions, and waste to energy
- Providing professional services to clients in the UK and overseas

Experience
- Qualified to degree level and ideally Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership
- Experience in power transmission and distribution industry
- Design, delivery, and supervision of HV substation solutions (110kV to 400kV)
- Development of specifications for HV AIS/GIS substations and associated primary/secondary equipment
- Experience across all project lifecycle stages
- Application of regulatory and client-specific health and safety requirements to HV plant system designs
- Preparation of technical reports in English

Preferred but not required
- Design of Overhead Line Systems for transmission networks
- Design of HV cable systems (minimum 110kV)
- Site construction and/or testing/commissioning of HV plant systems
- Earthing software design (CDEGs) and system studies/protection coordination software (ETAP)
- Control and protection systems design

Qualifications
Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or related discipline. A Master’s degree is desirable.
