Location
Central London with regular travel across England, including overnight stays. Flexible working and blended working supported. A reporting office will be provided, with an induction period requiring significant office presence.

About the Role
Join Forestry England, a passionate team dedicated to growing and protecting the nation’s forests for everyone. As Forest Resilience Programme Manager, you will lead Forestry England's forest resilience ambitions at a critical time for UK forestry. You will provide strategic leadership and hands-on programme management to help forests thrive amid climate change, biodiversity loss, and evolving societal demands. Your role includes delivering and evolving the Forest Resilience Strategy and Action Plan, ensuring it remains innovative, ambitious, and science-based. You will manage a three-year, £6.5 million Defra-funded programme to significantly scale up resilience work across forests. Working collaboratively with national and local colleagues and representing Forestry England with key stakeholders across the Defra family and wider forestry sector, you will be central to shaping the future of UK forestry.

Requirements

Experience
Proven experience in programme management, ideally within forestry, environmental management, or a related sector. Demonstrated ability to lead strategic initiatives and manage multi-million-pound projects. Experience working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders at national and local levels.

Passionate about forestry and environmental resilience with strong leadership skills. Able to communicate effectively and influence across a wide range of audiences. Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with changing priorities. Willingness to travel regularly, including overnight stays. Commitment to Forestry England’s values and mission.

Qualifications
A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience in forestry, environmental science, natural resource management, or related disciplines is desirable. Evidence of continual professional development and a commitment to lifelong learning.
