About the Role
Forestry England is seeking a dedicated Volunteer Coordinator to oversee and expand our volunteering activities in support of our mission to connect people with trees and improve quality of life. You will manage the day-to-day operations of the volunteer programme, working closely with all arboretum teams to coordinate volunteer activities that meet business needs and deliver an exceptional experience for volunteers. This role includes supervising the volunteer administration team to ensure effective management of volunteer data and core processes such as training, communications, and recruitment, all in line with relevant legislation and best practice. As an excellent organiser and communicator, you will build strong relationships and handle sensitive issues with empathy and respect. The role is part of the Learning and Participation team, which delivers public engagement programmes including formal education, interpretation, family events, and community activities.

Westonbirt is one of the world’s finest temperate tree collections and an internationally important historic landscape. It is a major visitor attraction with over 500,000 visits annually and nearly 40,000 members. The arboretum is supported by almost 400 passionate volunteers across 23 different roles, making it a vibrant and thriving community.

Experience
Proven experience in volunteer coordination or a similar role is highly desirable. Experience in managing teams, coordinating activities, and working within a public engagement or environmental setting will be advantageous.

You thrive on building and maintaining strong relationships and have the empathy and tact to handle difficult or sensitive issues respectfully. You are passionate about forestry, community engagement, and delivering high-quality volunteer experiences. You are motivated to contribute positively to the environment and public engagement programmes.
Qualifications
There are no specific qualifications required for this role, but relevant experience and skills in volunteer management, administration, or related fields are important. A commitment to ongoing professional development is expected.
