About the Role
Forestry England is the country’s largest land manager, caring for the nation’s forests for people, nature, and the economy. As part of the South Forest District team, Parking Rangers ensure the smooth running of paid-for car parks within the New Forest, protect important habitats, and provide outstanding customer service to visitors. Forestry England manages hundreds of car parks, thousands of miles of trails, and millions of trees, supporting vital conservation and recreation work. The income from paid parking supports this essential work, as less than 20% of funding comes from government sources. These fixed-term roles (2 years) offer the possibility of extension or permanency but with no guarantee. The New Forest is a cherished landscape of ancient woodlands and open heathlands, offering a unique and beautiful working environment. A full UK driving licence is required; automatic licence holders are welcome to apply.
Benefits
Forestry England contributes an average of 28.97% towards your pension through the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension Scheme. You will receive 25 days holiday per year (pro-rated for part-time), increasing by one day per year of service up to 30 days, plus bank holidays. The STaR employee benefits scheme offers discounts on supermarket shopping, hotels, clothes, mobile phones, insurance, holidays, gym memberships, and wellbeing apps. Free parking at Forestry England sites and free entry to National Arboretums at Westonbirt and Bedgebury are included. Forestry England supports lifelong learning and career development through professional development, individual learning plans, and sponsored membership of professional bodies.
