About the Role
Costain has secured extensive work across the water sector to support the AMP 8 investment cycle. Appointed by Northumbrian Water to the Living Water Enterprise, we are delivering a strategic infrastructure upgrade programme with contracts valued up to approximately £670m over 12 years. We are seeking experienced General Forepersons to join the Project Delivery team to drive delivery during both pre-construction and on-site phases.
As a General Foreperson, you will be responsible for the operational delivery of specific wastewater projects, supporting buildability in pre-construction and ensuring smooth onsite delivery. You will work closely with a wider delivery team and engage with a broad range of stakeholders including client teams, designers, and direct reports to drive safety, quality, and timely delivery at all stages.
Your key responsibilities will include ensuring coordination across wastewater projects, facilitating communication between suppliers, subcontractors, engineering, safety, environmental teams, and clients. You will help deliver all project requirements, identify training needs, review workforce performance, and ensure briefings are delivered. Maintaining high quality standards to meet specifications first time and minimizing rework is essential.
You will also be responsible for accurate record keeping including allocation sheets, delivery tickets, plant returns, inspections, permits, and briefings. Regular safety and environmental inspections will be carried out with appropriate actions implemented. Keeping a detailed daily site diary documenting changes, subcontractor attendance, and work-related discussions with clients and project teams is required.
