About the Role
As the UK faces increasingly complex environmental and infrastructure challenges, Stantec’s Environmental Services and Ground Assessment teams are at the forefront of delivering innovative, sustainable, and practical solutions. We invite Expressions of Interest from Geo-Environmental Consultants at all career stages, from early-career professionals to Senior and Principal specialists, who are passionate about land quality, sustainability, and resilient infrastructure.

You will work on a diverse portfolio of projects, with a strong focus on the UK water sector, collaborating closely with long-term framework clients such as United Utilities and Yorkshire Water. Your role will involve working alongside multidisciplinary engineering, design, and environmental teams to embed land quality, carbon reduction, and biodiversity considerations throughout the project lifecycle.

Depending on your experience and interests, your responsibilities may include:
- Geo-environmental and land quality assessment including Phase I and Phase II investigations, materials characterisation, risk assessment, and contaminated land management.
- Integrated project delivery supporting sustainable design solutions, including nature-based and low-carbon approaches.
- Technical and project leadership, managing delivery, mentoring colleagues, and contributing to quality assurance.
- Client and stakeholder engagement, building strong relationships and translating complex data into clear, actionable advice.
- Contributing to business development, strategic growth initiatives, and broadening your experience across Stantec’s UK business.

Requirements

Experience
- Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Experience in land quality assessment and contaminated site management within a UK consultancy environment.
- Working toward or holding Chartered status with a relevant professional body (e.g. Geological Society, IES) with mentoring and support available.
- For senior applicants, experience in technical leadership, project management, client relationships, or team mentoring.

About You
- Strong communication skills with the ability to connect technical detail to real-world delivery.
- A collaborative mindset and curiosity to innovate and challenge “business as usual” to achieve better environmental outcomes.
- Passionate about sustainability, land quality, and delivering infrastructure that stands the test of time.
- An innovation-led approach and desire to contribute to a positive environmental legacy.

Qualifications
- Relevant degree qualification as listed above.
- Progression toward or achievement of Chartered status is desirable but not mandatory.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.
