About the Role
The Anglian Water Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) project involves the planning, design, and construction of approximately 320km of new strategic, large diameter, clean water interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure across Anglian Water’s region. The SPA Alliance will also be responsible for future interconnector pipelines, adding a further 260km of strategic pipelines and infrastructure.

This role is part of Costain's Graduate Development Programme starting September 2027. The programme focuses on growing your personal, leadership, business, and technical skills through a combination of on-the-job learning and specialised technical training over two years. Graduates may rotate between projects or sectors every 8-12 months to gain broad experience.
Support includes mentoring, structured training, and opportunities to work towards professional Chartership. Graduates may work on exciting projects across the UK in sectors including nuclear, highways, rail, water, airports, and tunnels.
Note: A full UK driving licence is essential. Some roles may require Security Clearance and UK residency for the last 5 years due to Nuclear & Defence sector involvement.
Experience
- Site-based engineering background preferred
- Experience in one or more of civils, water, wastewater, or M&E
- Knowledge of current HSE requirements
- Computer literate with ability to use planning software
- Ability to interpret information from drawings
- Good communication skills, able to explain detailed data to non-technical audiences
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage/prioritise workloads
- Adaptability and willingness to challenge and learn
About you
Motivated and eager to develop planning skills within a collaborative team environment. Willingness to travel regularly to site locations and engage with delivery teams to support project planning and progress monitoring.
Qualifications
- Educated to degree level in a related subject such as Civils, Construction, Quantity Surveying, Programme Controls, or Project Management
- Minimum GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths
- Full, clean UK driving licence
- Desirable: APM Project Fundamentals qualification
