About the Role
Join Egis Group’s dedicated Landscape and Ecology team responsible for maintaining the 123km stretch of the M40 motorway. As a Grounds Maintenance (L&E) Operative, you will carry out essential environmental and landscaping tasks to ensure the safety, sustainability, and visual quality of the motorway corridor. This role includes night shifts and may involve additional duties for which you are suitably trained. Key responsibilities include participating in daily briefings and scheduled training to ensure safe and sustainable work practices, promoting a positive culture around health, safety, and environmental awareness, and reporting hazards and safety concerns to the Team Leader or Foreman. You will perform a variety of landscaping and ecological tasks such as grass cutting and strimming, tree felling and arborist duties, hedgerow and ditch clearance, pond management, and application of pesticides (as trained). You will also be expected to maintain professional conduct at all times, ensure machinery and equipment are in good working order and report faults promptly, conduct daily vehicle checks before starting network activities, complete and submit task-related documentation accurately, keep vehicles clean and organized, maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in good condition, and report near misses and hazards promptly.

Training & Development
You will be required to complete and pass the Lantra hierarchy of courses to qualify for work on high-speed roads and to perform landscaping and ecology tasks to a high standard. Training will be provided as needed.

Experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas is desirable: landscaping, forestry, gardening, arboriculture. Lantra Certification in Chainsaw Maintenance and Felling is preferred or willingness to obtain.

About you
You should be safety conscious, reliable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. A positive attitude towards training and development is essential. You must be willing to work day and night shifts and undertake a DBS check if successful. You must be based in the UK and legally entitled to work here.

Qualifications
Full UK Driving Licence is required (training support available). Lantra Certification in Chainsaw Maintenance and Felling is desirable or willingness to obtain. Other relevant qualifications in landscaping or ecology are advantageous but not essential.
