About the Role
The UK water sector is entering a period of unprecedented investment and transformation. Egis is rapidly expanding its UK Water Business and building a high-performing Process Engineering team to shape this next chapter. As a Senior Principal Process Engineer, you will provide senior technical leadership within the water/wastewater treatment design team, contributing to major municipal and industrial projects across the UK. Working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, you will deliver technically robust, sustainable, and innovative treatment solutions on nationally significant programmes. Key responsibilities include leading process discipline on complex projects through all phases from design to commissioning, setting and maintaining design standards, driving integrated coordination across multiple disciplines, leading senior client engagement and technical workshops, embedding modern delivery approaches such as process simulation and digital tools, supporting project management with risk and quality assurance, and building the process sub-team through recruitment and mentoring. You will also support business planning, client development, and growth of Egis’ UK water/wastewater treatment capability.

Experience
- Typically 10–12+ years’ relevant process design experience in water, wastewater and/or biosolids/sludge treatment design.
- Proven track record leading process design and technical assurance on complex multidisciplinary water/wastewater treatment projects.
- Deep technical expertise in treatment process design, process selection, mass balance, process capacity, PFDs, P&IDs, design basis development, commissioning and performance testing.
- Strong practical experience with process modelling/simulation packages such as BioWin, SUMO, Dynamizu or equivalents.
- Strong understanding of UK regulated water sector drivers, water company standards, CDM 2015, process safety, environmental/regulatory requirements and common delivery models.
- Demonstrable experience developing people through mentoring, line management, technical coaching, recruitment or resource planning.
- Strong client and stakeholder management skills with credibility to lead senior technical conversations and influence project direction.
- Strong commercial and delivery awareness including scope development, fee estimating, programme/resource planning, risk management and change control.

- Experienced leader capable of acting as process discipline lead, design manager, technical director or associate-level lead.
- Ability to build and develop teams during growth phases, including skills mapping and capability planning.
- Strong UK water sector client network and experience supporting account growth, opportunity shaping, bid leadership and work winning.
- Committed to sustainability and innovation in water infrastructure.
- Right to work in the UK is essential.
Qualifications
- BEng/MEng or equivalent in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or closely related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status with a relevant professional institution such as IChemE.
- Desirable skills include advanced experience with process simulation, digital treatment design, process optimisation, operational intelligence, nutrient removal, sludge/bioresources, water reuse, energy/carbon reduction, smart assets, and leadership of technical governance or delivery improvement initiatives.
