About the Role
Join Forestry England, a passionate team dedicated to growing the nation’s forests and making a positive difference for the environment. As a Habitat Restoration Officer, you will be part of the Higher-Level Stewardship (HLS) project team based in the New Forest. This role involves planning and delivering landscape-scale habitat restoration projects funded through the New Forest HLS scheme, which focuses on restoring and enhancing internationally important habitats covering around 20,000 hectares. You will play a vital role in overseeing these projects, contributing to the conservation of renowned flora and fauna. The South England Forest District manages 46,000 hectares of public forest estate and national parks, including areas of high national and international biodiversity importance such as SACs, SPAs, Ramsar sites, AONBs, and SSSIs. This is an opportunity to work within a diverse team of professionals committed to sustainable forest management and wildlife conservation.

Experience
Experience relevant to habitat restoration and landscape-scale conservation projects is desirable. Demonstrated ability to plan and manage environmental projects effectively will be advantageous.

Qualifications
Relevant qualifications in ecology, environmental science, forestry, or a related discipline are preferred. A commitment to continual professional development and willingness to undertake further training will be supported.
