About the Role
As an HGV Driver/Sweeper at Veolia, you will play a vital role in delivering essential services that help local communities and protect the environment. Your duties will include assisting with manual sweeping of streets and other areas such as footways, channels, alleys, subways, and around street furniture. You will ensure all Gully Grids are clear of obstructions and that sweepings are not pushed down grids to maintain safety and compliance.

You will be responsible for emptying litter bins within your beat, replacing liners, and collecting sweeper bags from designated pick-up points. Using onboard technology, you will record task confirmations and report any crew-related issues in real time. You will report graffiti, fly posting, or damage to litter bins and waste containers to your Foreman or Manager.

At the start and end of each shift, you will thoroughly check your vehicle for condition and roadworthiness, completing the necessary forms and reporting any damage. You will drive and operate Veolia vehicles safely and securely, including refueling and ensuring loads remain within legal limits. Compliance with all road traffic legislation and site-specific Health & Safety procedures is essential.

Maintaining a clean cab, performing duties efficiently to maximize productivity, and reporting any accidents or near misses fully and promptly are key responsibilities. You will also maintain courteous and professional relationships with the public, clients, staff, and colleagues.

Experience
Valid HGV licence
Previous sweeper experience is essential
Previous waste experience is desirable
