About the Role
Biffa is seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to lead and manage the maintenance and repair of a diverse fleet of waste collection vehicles and equipment. The fleet includes various makes and models, ranging from car derived vans to 44t Artic Units and trailers. You will be responsible for ensuring maximum fleet availability by overseeing day-to-day workshop operations, planning and scheduling vehicle inspections, servicing and repairs in compliance with DVSA and Operator Licence requirements. You will drive high standards of health and safety, housekeeping and workshop compliance across all areas, support and manage workshop employees including their performance, attendance and development, and ensure accurate completion and control of all service, maintenance and repair documentation. Additionally, you will oversee fault diagnosis and repair work across hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems, build strong working relationships with operational depot teams to maintain service performance, and deliver excellent workshop productivity and downtime control across the fleet.

Experience
Minimum 5 years workshop experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role. Proven experience maintaining vehicles and waste handling equipment to current legislative and DVSA standards. Strong technical knowledge of HGV maintenance and repair. Experience managing maintenance records, compliance documentation and workshop health and safety standards.

Qualifications
Minimum Level 3 HGV NVQ or equivalent. HGV Licence essential, TMCPC qualification preferred. Strong understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic and vehicle electrical systems including fault finding and diagnostics.
