About the Role
You will carry out training for drivers, loaders, operatives and supervisors at Biffa’s recycling and waste management contracts in Manchester, ensuring employees are fully equipped to carry out their roles. This vital role supports Biffa’s health and safety-focused culture by delivering high-quality training and operational support. Core responsibilities include assisting depots in achieving Vehicle Gate Check, Crew Monitoring, and Route Risk Assessment targets; mentoring staff to address and correct unsafe or non-compliant behaviours; and reporting major vehicle cleanliness or condition issues to the Business Manager. You will deliver training aligned with Group Training Standards and contractual obligations, tailoring content to meet contract specifications and operational needs. Additionally, you will coach drivers to improve skills, reduce accidents, and prevent Operator Licence contraventions, alerting Business Managers when drivers fall below competency requirements. You will also conduct depot-based training on key operational practices such as wheel torquing, manual handling, vehicle defect checks, in-cab PDA usage, tachographs/logbooks, and driver debriefs.

Experience
Previous experience in a training role or as an experienced driver within the waste management or service industry. Working knowledge of transport and relevant legislation. Experience working within a time-critical service environment is essential.

About you
IT literate and comfortable using business software and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent time management skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines. Strong mentoring and coaching abilities to support driver compliance and operational safety.

Qualifications
Valid LGV Category C (Class 2) Driving Licence. Valid Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).
