About the Role

As a Maintenance Assistant, you will support maintenance technicians with general tasks including job set-up, lifting, equipment preparation, and basic mechanical work. You will maintain cleanliness and housekeeping standards across the site, including the effluent plant grounds, vegetation, workshop, and other operational areas. Operating MEWPs and forklifts to support maintenance activities will be part of your role, with training provided if required. Effective communication with colleagues, reporting safety concerns promptly, and working proactively and safely in an industrial environment are essential. You will use your initiative to support site improvements and maintain high health and safety standards, contributing to Veolia’s inclusive and environmentally focused culture.

Experience
Basic mechanical experience is required. Mechanical qualifications are desirable. Experience operating MEWPs, forklifts, manual handling, or other relevant equipment is advantageous; training can be provided. Experience in general housekeeping and maintaining cleanliness in an industrial environment is expected.

About you
You should have good knowledge of health and safety practices, with relevant safety qualifications desirable. Effective communication and teamwork skills are essential, including the ability to report hazards and discuss tasks clearly. You must be proactive, safety-conscious, and able to work well in an industrial environment.

Qualifications
Mechanical qualifications and health and safety certifications are desirable but not essential as training will be provided. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and housekeeping are vital.
