
Location
Bedgebury office near Bedgebury National Pinetum TN17 2SJ, with flexibility for some optional blended working. This role can only be worked in the UK. The district covers diverse habitats including productive coniferous forest, mixed broadleaved woodlands, heathland, chalk and acid grasslands, and streams in south-east England. The role primarily focuses on Weald and Kent woodlands of the East District, with occasional travel within the district.

About the Role
As a Forest Surveyor for Forestry England, you will support the planning and management of some of England’s most diverse and valued landscapes. You will carry out inventory surveys of the public forest estate in the East District, identifying woodland components, providing standing timber measurement, planting density assessments, and tree disease monitoring. Reporting directly to the Forest Planner, you will work closely with the district planning team and local beat teams to support woodland survey delivery, ensuring the accuracy of the forest inventory database with field data. This data will inform Forest Plans and Forestry England operations. Forestry England is committed to growing the nation’s forests, adapting landscapes for climate change, restoring Ancient Woodlands, and trialling new tree species suited for future climates. This role contributes directly to these objectives.

Experience
Relevant experience in forestry, woodland surveying, or environmental management is desirable. Experience working with forest inventory data and field survey techniques will be advantageous.
