As a Principal/Associate Ecologist, you will be based primarily in our Birmingham office as part of the West Midlands ecology team, working closely with a wider national team. Your role will involve a mix of office-based work and some site involvement, focusing on technical expertise. You will have responsibility for staff wellbeing, mentoring, career development, and line management within the team. Working alongside senior leadership, you will support team management, recruitment, training, and project delivery.

The role covers all project stages from design conception to implementation, allowing you to influence scheme design, promote best practice, and contribute to biodiversity net gain and nature-based solutions. We seek a dynamic, proactive team player eager to grow in a fast-moving, client-focused environment.

Experience
- Degree in Ecology or directly related subject
- Experience in Ecological Consultancy or equivalent transferable skills
- Full Member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) or equivalent
- Chartered Environmentalist, Chartered Ecologist, or Chartered Biologist status (or ability to achieve within 6 months)
- Proven report writing skills and experience acting as a checker/reviewer for ecological deliverables
- Technical specialism such as protected species mitigation licences or advanced botanical skills

- Higher degree advantageous
