About the Role
Are you passionate about improving the environmental performance of infrastructure development projects and helping the UK achieve its net zero commitments? Join AECOM’s established Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) team, comprising over 165 experts across the UK and Ireland. As a Principal Environmental Consultant, you will manage environmental inputs to large-scale development projects across multiple sectors including energy generation (carbon capture, hydrogen, renewables), energy distribution and transmission, strategic rail projects, highways, regeneration, ecommerce, minerals and waste, water, defence, aviation, commercial, residential, and industrial developments.
You will be involved throughout all project stages from early strategy and site identification, through feasibility, optioneering, detailed design, construction, and operation. Your responsibilities will include managing EIA screening and scoping reports, Environmental Statements, and future Environmental Outcomes Reports, as well as technical review of specialist chapters. You will work across various consenting regimes such as DCO, TCPA, TWA, and hybrid Bills.
Your role will require a critical eye for quality to ensure deliverables meet rigorous standards and compliance with quality management procedures. You will apply your project management skills to effectively manage resources and budgets, collaborate with integrated design teams to improve environmental outcomes, identify constraints and mitigation solutions, and maintain strong client relationships. Additionally, you will promote AECOM’s environmental services, lead business development opportunities, and contribute to fee and technical proposal development.
At AECOM, you will be part of a global team driven by a common purpose to deliver a better world through innovation, technical expertise, and a commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) priorities. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to transformational infrastructure projects that create lasting positive impact.
