About the Role
Join AECOM’s Investigations and Remediation team as a Principal Geo-environmental Consultant and play a key role in delivering ground investigation, contamination assessment, and remediation projects. You will act as project manager and provide technical direction across a diverse portfolio of approximately 400 live projects in the UK and Ireland. Our work spans multiple sectors including transportation (road, rail, airports, ports), industrial manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas, renewables (solar, hydrogen, wind, pump-hydro), developers, defence, public bodies, and government agencies. You will prepare fee proposals, lead project inputs from desk study and feasibility through to final design, provide technical guidance on conceptual site models, interpret soil and groundwater data, and ensure regulatory compliance. This role involves client-facing delivery, project management, commercial and contract management, mentoring and line management of junior staff. Experience
- Proven expertise in contaminated land assessment and management, including producing, reviewing, and approving technical reports
- Experience managing commercial and contractual aspects of project delivery
- Client and stakeholder management experience
- Hands-on field investigation experience including site management, drilling supervision, and sample collection or supervision of remediation activities
- Development of robust conceptual site models and qualitative/quantitative risk assessments
- Understanding of contaminated land assessment regulations and guidance, as well as CDM regulations and site management
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment
- Clean driving licence and willingness to travel within the UK

Qualifications
- Degree in an environmental, science, or engineering-based subject
- Chartered status through a recognised institution such as the Institution of Environmental Sciences (IES) or The Geological Society of London (other relevant institutions will also be considered)
